AI Price Builder — a Shopify app for building live, custom-made-to-order pricing calculators.
Effective date: September 23, 2026 · Last updated: September 23, 2026
1. Overview
AI Price Builder ("the App", "we", "us", "our") is an application built for the Shopify platform that lets merchants create live pricing calculators for custom, made-to-order products (for example: flooring, signage, blinds, embroidery, furniture, engraving, or 3D-printed goods) and display them on their storefront product pages.
This policy explains what information the App collects, from whom, why, how it is used, who it may be shared with, and the choices available to merchants and their customers. It applies to the App itself and to the storefront widget the App installs on a merchant's theme.
2. Who we are
AI Price Builder is developed and operated as a Shopify App Store application. For any privacy question, request, or concern, contact us at support.aipricebuilder@gmail.com.
3. Information we collect
3.1 Information from merchants (store owners / staff)
Category
Examples
Source
Store & account data
Shop domain (e.g. example.myshopify.com), Shopify plan, store owner email address, store currency and locale, installed app scopes
Provided automatically by Shopify when the App is installed
Authentication tokens
Shopify OAuth access token used to call the Admin API on the merchant's behalf
Managed entirely through Shopify's own Billing API — we do not collect or store payment card details
Support communications
Emails or messages sent to our support address
Provided voluntarily by the merchant
3.2 Information from the merchant's customers (storefront shoppers)
Category
Examples
Source
Calculator interaction data
Values a shopper enters into a calculator (e.g. dimensions, quantities, selected options) and the resulting calculated price
Entered directly by the shopper on the storefront widget
Order line-item data
The configured price and selected options attached to a cart / order line item
Generated when a shopper adds a calculated item to their cart and checks out
Aggregate usage events
Anonymous, non-identifying counts of calculator views, quote calculations, and add-to-cart events, used to power the merchant's analytics dashboard
Generated automatically as shoppers use a calculator
Customer email address
The email address on a paid order that includes a calculator-priced item, stored only so the merchant can find and search that order inside the App's own Orders page
Received automatically from Shopify's order-paid webhook when a shopper completes checkout — never entered into the calculator widget itself
Beyond the order email address described above, we do not knowingly collect a shopper's name, shipping address, phone number, or payment details through the App. Checkout, payment, and order fulfillment are handled entirely by Shopify's own checkout — the App only supplies the price and configuration for the line item being purchased, and separately receives the order's email address via webhook for the purpose described above.
3.3 Information we do not collect
Payment card numbers or other payment credentials
Government identification numbers
Precise geolocation
Browsing activity outside of the calculator widget itself
4. How we use information
To operate the App: authenticate the merchant's store, save and render calculators, calculate prices, and process the resulting cart / order line items.
To power the AI formula assistant: convert a merchant's plain-English pricing description into a structured formula (see Section 7).
To provide analytics: aggregate, anonymized usage counts (views, quotes, conversions) shown back to the merchant in their own dashboard.
To bill for paid plans: via Shopify's Billing API only.
To provide support: respond to merchant questions or bug reports.
To maintain security and reliability: detect abuse, prevent fraud, and debug errors.
We do not sell merchant or shopper data, and we do not use calculator or order data for advertising purposes.
5. Legal basis for processing (EEA / UK merchants)
Performance of a contract — processing needed to provide the App's core functionality to the merchant who installed it.
Legitimate interests — securing the App, preventing abuse, and improving reliability.
Consent — where a merchant opts into optional features (for example, connecting their own Google Analytics or Facebook Pixel ID) that involve sharing data with a third party of the merchant's choosing.
6. Sharing & third-party services
We share information only as necessary to operate the App:
Recipient
Purpose
Data involved
Shopify, Inc.
Platform hosting the merchant's store; the App reads/writes store data (products, metafields, orders, line items) through Shopify's Admin API and processes billing through Shopify's Billing API
Store data, order/line-item data, billing status
Anthropic (Claude API)
Powers the optional AI formula assistant — see Section 7 for details
The merchant's typed, plain-English pricing description only
All data described in Section 3, encrypted in transit and at rest
Optional merchant-configured integrations
If a merchant chooses to add their own Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Facebook Pixel identifiers, storefront calculator events may be reported to those services
Aggregate usage events only — configured and controlled entirely by the merchant
We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information to third parties. We may disclose information if required by law, regulation, legal process, or governmental request, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of the App, our merchants, or others.
7. The AI formula assistant
AI Price Builder includes an optional feature that lets a merchant describe a pricing rule in plain English (for example, "$6 per square foot plus a $15 setup fee, $40 minimum") and have it converted into a structured pricing formula automatically.
Only the merchant's typed description is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic's Claude API) for this purpose — no shopper data, order data, or store credentials are ever included in that request.
The generated formula is never executed as arbitrary code. It is parsed and evaluated using a restricted, safe math-expression engine, so it cannot access your store, database, or any system beyond calculating a number.
This feature is only available on paid plans, and only runs when a merchant actively uses it while editing a calculator.
8. Data storage & security
All data is stored in an encrypted, access-controlled PostgreSQL database operated on our hosting provider's infrastructure.
Data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
Shopify access tokens are stored encrypted and are never exposed to the storefront or to shoppers.
Access to production data is limited to what is necessary to operate and support the App.
9. Data retention
While the App is installed: we retain merchant configuration, calculator data, and aggregate analytics for as long as the App remains installed on the store, so the merchant's calculators keep working.
After uninstall: see Section 14.
Shopper interaction data: calculator interaction values and resulting order line-item data are retained only as long as necessary to support order fulfillment and the merchant's own analytics, and are deleted on the same schedule as the associated merchant's data.
10. Your rights
Depending on where you are located (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR, or CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to:
Request access to the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict certain processing
Request a portable copy of your data
Merchants can exercise these rights for their own store data at any time by contacting us at support.aipricebuilder@gmail.com. Shoppers wishing to exercise these rights over data generated through a calculator should first contact the merchant whose store they interacted with, as the merchant is the data controller for their own storefront; we act as a data processor on the merchant's behalf and will assist the merchant in fulfilling such requests.
11. Cookies & tracking
The App's admin dashboard uses only the session cookies required by Shopify's embedded-app framework to keep a merchant securely signed in. The storefront calculator widget does not set its own tracking cookies and does not use third-party advertising trackers unless a merchant has explicitly connected their own Google Analytics, Google Ads, or Facebook Pixel account.
12. Children's privacy
The App is intended for use by business merchants and their customers and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can remove it.
13. International data transfers
Because Shopify and our hosting and AI service providers operate globally, information may be processed in countries other than the one in which a merchant or shopper is located. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) for these transfers.
14. What happens when you uninstall
When a merchant uninstalls the App, Shopify notifies us via a webhook and we begin removing the store's data from our systems, including calculators, formulas, stored access tokens, and associated analytics, within a reasonable period. Some information may be retained for a limited time where necessary to comply with legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements, after which it is deleted.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the App's functionality or applicable law. We will update the "Last updated" date above when we do. Material changes will be communicated to merchants through the App or by email where appropriate.
